This is a great image. I love the separation of the birds and fence with the background.

Thanks Ron, I love this image. A lot of work went into getting that separation.

Change the title to "Angels on High," and you'll get a better understanding of my mindset on this one.

Its a really nice composition Chris.
It looks alike a bit of noise has crept in. You mention that a lot of work went in to getting separation from the background, were you not tempted to get rid of the green altogether to add to the simplicity of the image?

I could have...and should, and probably will...good call. Noise comes from 200mm, dusk, crop.

Wait until your D800 arrives, you won't have that problem any more. It will comfortably shoot at ISO 3200 without any noticable noise.

I have the D800 and it is INCREDIBLE even at zoom crops. When I get home, I'll process some and post.

Dark and moody, all right. Because I'm viewing with an iPad I can't comment on the more technical stuff like noise etc, but what I do like about this is the actual contrast of dark and light and the implied contrast, with the dark birds, traditionally associated with evil, and the light sky, associated with good. On the whole, I'd say that evil is winning here.
