Took this shot a little while ago, this is the River Wye near a area known as Erwood where you can get down to the river bank. Image was taken on a dedicated Nikon D70 IR camera.

Nice IR shot. Did you have the Nikon specially converted? I have an old 350D Canon and I was considering having it 'done'.

I converted my camera about 4 years ago, as no one at the time was doing conversions in the UK, so I had to get a filter from the USA and install it myself. But now there are a few companies in the UK who will do it for you one of them being 'Advance Camera Services'. You can go for a 720nm or a 840nm filter. The 720nm has the advantage of recording colour IR but the 840nm will give you better monochrome, I went for the 720nm.

Great effect on the water with the IR. This image is also a very good example of balanced composition. We have a positive lead in and the two essential demarcation elements are on the thirds. Very nice work Barry.

I agree with Rob and Steve.
Very nice effect along with great composition. It has a very etherial look, especially to the water.
It's one of those things I would love to have a go at. I just need to see if I can justify getting a body coverted rather than trading it in or selling it. It may be a job for my old 10D.
Thanks for posting it.

Barry, nice IR shot you have here.. I really like the river... I have my D40x converted to Goldie IR... Can't say that I have heard of that version, does the filter have a strength number. I will look forward to seeing some of your IR images from it.

Nifty is the first word that comes to mind. A more proper comment might be that this is really lovely. You've got the ethereal, magic river thing going, for sure.
I've appreciated the other comments, too - I'm learning!

Barry, I don't know about the filter strength number... Maybe you can check this link myinfrared.com/And these are some of my IR pictures.. As you are able to record colour (I presume that you swapped red/blue channels in Photoshop) then you must have a filter strength of between 650nm and 750nm. I do like your second image with the building and trees.
