Please tell me what you think. I took these images with the express purpose of converting to black and white (a novelty to me - usually I convert to black and white to fix the problems I had with color). 1. This one, I liked the lines and textures and tried to focus on that. 2. This one is a pano using 2 vertical images and photomerging in CS5. Please tell me what you think? 'Rie

I like them both too 'Rie, but the first might benefit from a closer crop to lose some of the distracting roof; down maybe as far as the underside of the fascia which being bright and out of horizontal doesn't help the image. The dark area along the line of gallows brackets will form a useful stop for the eye. They are beautifully sharp and well exposed images.

I like the first one more. You really did capture some nice textures. I'd go in a slightly different direction than Mike. I think the sagging roof adds to it, but what distracts me a little is the bright grasses under the deck, so I'd crop the bottom almost up to the deck surface and also a bit on each side.
Just a thought - if the roof line is not all sag and is partly due to perspective, you could use skew in PS to minimize the perspective distortion.

I like the tones in the second one Rie, very crisp and smooth. The first one is kind of between two perspectives for me. As it is I think it needs a perspective correction in photoshop to square it up. I would however also like to see it taken from more to the side and get some depth into the composition too. A great excuse to go back I think you chose some good subjects.

Thank you all for your comments. Steve, Ken and Mike, I did a perspective adjustment, plus I had some other images to work with. Here are some other processing options. I am not sure how I feel about any of them. I do know that I personally find the picture of the courthouse boring. Nothing that makes me say "wow"? 1. 2. 'Rie
