It looks plenty sharp enough Chris and must surely balance better on a relatively heavy D800 than an APC sensor camera. Nice shots too.

Very nice, Chris. I particularly like #1 - but all are very good. Any particular reason for the Sigma rather than the Tamron?

Better reviews and better sharpness but today I shot my 80-400 with a new model 1.4 tele converter and got super results. At $500 it is a great alternative to all this weight.
