Oh, this just breathes small town, Marie! (I hope it's okay that I say that. eep.) It feels like such a 'real' series. I love the people shots! Well, maybe, someone else will come along with some more helpful insight. I just wanted to tell you that this makes me smile. btw, where are you from, again?

Hi, Katy!
I live back in the hills of the Ohio River Valley in Clarington, OH. I took these pictures in the next town up, Powhatan Point, which is another Smalltown, USA.
I get paid only a token to take pictures, but it is so much fun I stay for the day. There is a parade at night as a part of the closing festivities.
Very fun and very doable. I will post a few more pictures later.

The third image of this series is definitely my favourite. You have got the conversion bang on, to my eyes, anyway. There is a bit of clipping in the woman's black tee-shirt and in a few other places, , but for me that doesn't detract from the rest. Great range of tones right across the range and very sharp, too.
The first image is a bit blown in the guy's hat and the girl's hair, and that glares at me a bit more than I want it to. My eye goes straight there, rather than to their faces, which should be the main event. But a nicely captured "moment".

That's right! I remember, now. I had you in that general part of the map, in my mind's eye but couldn't quite remember. I was wondering if I should slide you up into Canada! ;-)
I think that Kit's observation about the first photo is right on. The bright is a little bit distracting but it's still, definitely, a beautiful moment captured well!

Marie great subjects and a good documentary set. The only thing is that I think they are a little over sharpened. We are starting to see jaggedy edges and some waxiness in the skin. The last one is also exhibiting some haloing. the first, second and fourth in the first set are fine. Also were some of these slightly under exposed and recovered in PP?

You have recorded this event well and the people involved. I can see what Steve is talking about especially on your last image with his name badge. But I do like the one with the truck and the next one down with Farther Christmas and including a photographer making the image tell the story.

Thank you, Steve and Barry. I do not know what subtle indicators of oversharpening to look for, so I am guilty of it. Thanks for pointing out the name badge. I can see the "stepping" there. Is the light halo on #5 around his shirt sleeves? Please help me understand.
Thanks so much, Marie
