I prefer your edit compared from the original, but still felt that the walkers were too central in the image. So I had a play, first of all I rotated the image clockwise slightly, cloned in some grass at about 15% opacity where the sunlight had burnt, and finally did a crop.

Mike! I vote for the first image - first wash of light - walkers seen from afar - through an archway of leaves and light and fog. How I can hear their voices laughing in that echo-y and distant, foggy way is beyond me. That's some talent that you have there!;-) I do want it to rotate to the right just a titch, though - even, though I can see that the people are leaning the other way and the ground must not be level - it just seems like it needs it. I'm so glad that this came around, again. When I saw it ages ago, I just loved it but didn't have the moment to respond. I was just thinking that I should dig it up and here it is!
