Fashionista's Boyfriend asked would I take a photo of him & his brothers to give to their parents for Christmas. I didn't want soft garden setting, I wanted the more industrial look...tricky to find anywhere like that where I could get them far enough away from the background, so we tried a few different spots.... here is 1 version - of course the 1 we get enlarged for the parents will be minus the sunglasses, but as I had not met 2 of them before, I started with some 'these are just for fun & setting up the gear' type images & just chatted & clicked away...

I like the punchy and crispy b&w effect, Kay. The semi-triangular position of their head height is also very good. My only single nit is that the shirt of the guy on the left is a bit hot. Other than that this is definitely a killer shot. Well done!

So, which one is the BF? I agree with Willie as per the shirt looking a bit hot but at the same time, I think the lad to the far right might be a little too dark. I am sure you will correct that on the final shoot.

I feel a challenge coming on here Monochrome suits the image well as it gives it more of a industrial feel which is what you were looking for, and three subjects are a good number, lighting may had been a bit too harsh especially on the left hand brother as the shadow is very strong on his face, but you have controlled exposure well with those light shirts.

Thankyou Gentlemen With the beauty of RAW - it will be a snap to balance left & right brother better. Silly how I missed that & yet when you mention it, it stands out like the sore thumb And the answer to the challenge is our daughter's BF is The centre 'bloke' he is the youngest yet tallest of the 3. They told me the eldest of them was about 9 years old when they last had a photo of all 3 together as they hate it. I think that was another thing to learn, girls & couples (with the girl telling her partner we're doing this) in my very limited experience, want to be in front of the lens. Young 20 something Men have anywhere they would rather be. So the challenge was to meet them, get to chat enough that they relaxed, then get the images... I really had to keep them moving along, literally.... I chose the locations in the morning, in advance and did a few frames, then frogmarched quickly to the next spot.

Well done Kay. I do like to hear about how people approach subjects for portraits.

Kay, that kind of thinking and prep will serve you well down the road as it has here. Nice image.
