This shot was taken just before the sun set in one of our local churchyards, I like the way that the light was still on this grave slab whilst the ground around was now in shade. Nikon D700, f14, 1/10sec, ISO200, Sigma 12-24 at 13mm.

Just the right amount of detail in the shadows but I wonder if perhaps you should tone down the bright band of light which crosses the entire image, especially in the middle ground. I'd probably lose that weed as it really tends to draw the eye away from the stone.

Well done Barry. I actually like the light and intensity as it gives me a good feel of the atmosphere. I think it matches well with the depth of the shadows. Just not convinced you could keep the feel you have captured with a reduction of light or brightness of it, but always worth a try.

Thanks for your comments, I felt that the tonal range from bright light to the dark shadows gave it the atmosphere that I was trying to record, agree about the weed thou. I just could not decide if the image would had been stronger if I had cleaned the grave slab off so that you could read all of the writing.

So if you had pulled out the weeds, swept the slab, cut the grass .... You shot what was there, and made a darn fine job of it. I like it.

Can't fault this Barry. Love the effect of the wide angle distortion and the light is complimenting the subject matter perfectly. Remember to put the dust pan, brush and secateurs in your camera bag next time. I always keep a leaf blower and chain saw in the side pockets of my bag .
