Hmmm, that's interesting. I just noticed that the left colum has gone much narrower in this thread, due no doubt to me posting a screen grab image that was 1026 pixels wide? Other threads seem OK. Rob, on my screen your screen grab was about 1280px wide, I think 1024 is OK as a max. Maybe this a good reason to limit posted images to 1024 max size?

If I view page 2 of this thread, I have to scroll sideways like a madman to see whole sentences. Once someone hits enter, it is OK and this page and page 1 of this thread are OK too. I'm wondering if the width problem on p 2 is because of Rob's posting of his screen dump?
But yeah, I really like the more sophisticated look of the dark grey/white text. Wouldn't want it any more contrasty though as then the text becomes difficult to read. Maybe a future option would be to have two or three choices of background, text colour etc that users can set as their defaults? Have yet to view images here with it, but from using other boards with similar set-ups, I just know they'll look great.

I don't think it is possible to directly upload from a computer. It has to reside on a server from the web. Our forum (just like any other) merely uses the link address so we can show it here. The image is still on the online image hosting site you're using (like Flickr, Tinypics, Photobucket, Smugmug, etc...) and the forum is "calling out" that image by using the image location link. Don't worry, we all do it the same way. We just use different image hosting site to save our images online. Hope this helps, Don.

Jiro The upload link on that other forum used Tinypics, which is owned by Photo Bucket, and you can upload direct from your computer using that service. The code must be available from Photo Bucket to integrate it into FSC? I think this is it, but I am not sure - you must be able to get it from PB. photobucket.com/mediaplugin

I think the left column is variable, and the right one isn't. On the previous page (2) where I posted that image, my left column is ok if I take off my Firefox bookmarks (which are and added column to the left). But when I add the bookmarks it has to make room so it narrows the only variable column, which is the FSC left one. At least I think that's what's happening. Perhaps it only happens when the posted image goes over a certain size? But it may also depend upon the monitor. Mine is 27 inches.

My interpretation of DonS' question is that if it is possible to "directly" upload an image from his computer to F-Stop without using any web-based image hosting site. From what I know, even Tinypic is considered as an image hosting site although its interface is hidden from plain site when used as a plugin. We can also use one like Tinypic here at F-Stop but the hidden image hosting site that ProBoard is using is postImage.org. I can incorporate it here using this script code: support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=codedatabase&action=display&thread=400256. I tried it and it's good. However, I did not like the speed in uploading so I decided not to open the matter to Steve. If we can find an easier way to upload our images then I am always open for new ideas and possibilities.

Rob, you took the words right out of my mind... Thanx.. Jiro, I think you know what I mean now... ;D One more thing, is it possible to put a real name information on member's status (left side column) so we can know other member better than just a loggin name.. Thanx..

I have been using Photobucket for the images to construct the forum. It really does work a treat and dead easy to grab a link.
I am getting both the sidebar and the main post column auto adjusting width. I actually think the side bar should be fixed width. There was something odd going on with the second page. There does not seem to be anything in the code that would cause erratic behaviour. I will try the Proboards support.

You can remove it if you want - or I will.

Coming into this thread very late due to a space themed birthday party for the twins taking priority over the weekend. Sorry, I will try not to let it happen again.
What a pleasant surprise when I logged in this morning. It's amazing how quick it is all taking shape. I take my hat off to you Steve.

Amazing work Steve. I agree that both the side bar and the post bar should be fixed width. I also think that there should be a size limit for images. My monitor is 17 inches and I have problems some images. For example: fstop-cafe.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=landscapes&action=display&thread=83 in Janis' thread "Sun-Kissed Beach" I can't see the whole image even when I view it in lightbox. Also, I like that we can see members' images at the home page. Is it possible that we could see them in the sub-forums too, like the way we see them in the home page? In "Landscapes" there could be only landscape photos, in "still life" only still life etc... Or would this be too much?

On the readability thing, I've been thinking... if the avatar was at the top of the post, and the screen name etc were all below the avatar, it would look more defined. You tend to think the avatar is the start (laterally) of a post. But at the moment it isn't. Does that make sense?
