Welcome to the slightly darker side than the last one Rob ;D
Beautiful conversion. It seems to have an endless tonal range.

Fantastic image Rob! I love the contrasts that Efex Pro adds to an already top-notch image, and in this case you've done it perfectly.

It seems to have an endless tonal range. Yes, I was surprised at that. Although TBH, most of it is down to Silver Efex. It's a great plugin, and if you start with a very good shot it just makes it better.

...It's a great plugin, and if you start with a very good shot it just makes it better. Couldn't have said better, Rob. His kneeling position adds a lot of drama to the shot and I like it! A definite winning shot for me.

The subject is matched perfectly to the processing, and the processing is excellent! This has captured a man "doting" over his baby and pandering to its every whim. I viewed it Large on Flickr and is just gets better, the detail is crisp and clear, and the tonal range is complete. Very well done!

Fantastic image, Rob. It has a depth to it... if you know what I'm trying to say...it is B&W, obviously, but seems so much more. I'm probably making no sense...can't quite figure out how to say what I'm trying to say.

Oh hell aye...he's back. As you know this is just the kind of processing I love. It is boarding on too much and takes skill to know when to stop. I could go into all sorts of digressions about the symbolism of the kneeling posture and the squirting of oil onto his object of desire...but I wont...oh hang on I did.
I have an old book about Stanier and his locos and some of the b/w photographic plates give a similar quality to the metal work. It really is an excellent image.
i would like to see it on black without the border too. I have a feeling it would have even greater impact

What a stunning image Rob,
The subject suits Black and White perfectly and your conversion is (as always) spot on. Well done!

Yes, I know, I know, the male supplicant kneeling in front of the object of technological desire... his deus ex machina... i would like to see it on black without the border too. Rob, as usual, you are setting a very high standard for us to jump to. Great tones and the b & w is just the best for this. Colour would simply be noise in this case.
